Research FieldsBio-ecological health analysis and drug food safety assessment At present, we have completed the research and development of peach preservation technology and product development and promotion application. Focusing on the world problem of peach preservation and the actual needs of enterprises, on the basis of more than ten years of work, we have systematically completed the research and development of the key biotechnology of peach preservation and its preservative paper and preservative agent. And we have obtained 6 authorized invention patents, published 1 book and published 68 scienti c and technological papers of various types, which basically solved the world problem of peach preservation. The popularization and application of this achievement has created an average annual pro t of more than $264534.34 for the production unit. To build a high-accuracy model for predicting the inner physiological status of mechanically injured peaches during postharvest storage We collected visible/shortwave near-infrared (Vis/SWNIR) diffuse reflection spectra (300–1150 nm) of peaches, and two drop heights (30 cm and 60 cm) were applied to study the variations in total soluble solids (TSS) polyphenol oxidase (PPO), malondialdehyde (MDA) and relative electrolyte leakage (REL) by percussive tests. After multiplicative scatter correction and Savitzky-Golay smoothing pretreatments, optimal feature selections from all wavelengths were determined using genetic algorithm (GA) in the partial least-squares (PLS) modeling. Through several verifications, the GA-PLS models showed good imitative effects and high precisions. They could predict the condition of peaches with minor injury, which are di cult to detect with the naked eye, to reduce loss in practical production and guarantee the food safety. To develop an edible coating for preserving the postharvest quality and extending the shelf life of peaches We applied an edible coating composed by 10% sodium alginate (SA) with and without rhubarb (Rheum rhaponticum L.) extract to peach fruits. Variations in weight loss, firmness, soluble solids content (SSC), respiration rate, maleic dialdehyde (MDA) content, polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activity and sensory attributes were evaluated at room temperature. The effectiveness of rhubarb-SA coating to control postharvest decay of peach fruits was also investigated. Our study proves that the alginate coating entrapped with rhubarb extract has the potential to improve postharvest quality and prolong the shelf life of peach fruits. The current research ‑ elds of our laboratory include: (1) Biomass energy materials screening, cultivation and fuel ethanol production process research and development, crop straw biological treatment, energy grass industry development. (2) Fruits and vegetables rotting mechanism, preservation mechanism, cultivation and management. (3) Safety assessment of food preservative paper and preservative agent.
